According to El blog de Agrobank, a new report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the global temperature could rise 2.7 degrees by the end of the century compared to the pre-industrial era average if the current rate of greenhouse gas emissions is maintained.
Maintaining the current situation, they warn, in which global temperatures are on average 1.1 degrees higher than in pre-industrial times, would not be enough. Scientists predict that it would not be enough and that it would reach 1.5 degrees in 2040, rising to 2 degrees in 2060 and reaching 2.7 degrees in 2100.
This rise in temperatures would bring with it more frequent and more extreme weather events such as droughts, floods and heat waves, among others. It is worth remembering that this rise would be far from the target set by the Paris Agreement, which recommended limiting the rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
