GEN4OLIVE will fund olive pre-breeding activities

The European GEN4OLIVE project has launched its first call aimed at SMEs, in which it will finance activities for the genetic improvement of the olive tree and the development of new technologies that speed up and make this process more efficient.

The University of Córdoba (UCO), partner of the Life Resilience project, coordinates this project in which the universities of Jaén and Granada, the Andalusian Technological Corporation (CTA) and the companies Galpagro, Cámbrico Biotech and Santa Cruz Ingeniería also participate.

Companies can request up to € 50,000 in financing for individual projects or up to € 100,000 for collaborative projects. The application is made through the GEN4OLIVE project website and is open until December 1, 2021.

Requirements

The call is aimed at SMEs established in one of the following countries: Spain, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Morocco and Turkey, interested in olive tree genetic improvement activities, and end users of the material available in genebanks (es that is, breeders, olive growers and producers of olive oil or table olives).

Technological SMEs that can contribute to accelerate and update the olive tree genetic improvement process can also participate.
