Selection and design of Life Resilience’s demonstration trials

For the auxiliary fauna to be established on farms, it is essential to provide them with the basic conditions for their development and proliferation, and this can be done by selecting the most appropriate Ecological Infrastructures.

In Life Resilience we are using hedges on the borders of the intensive groves, so they can serve as natural enhancers of biodiversity, habitats for a wide range of auxiliary fauna. Covers crops between the lines of olives or almonds trees, which as they are arranged on the ground, can be considered as Ecological Corridors, and they can represent about 80% of the biodiversity of a farm system.

A demonstration trial is an effective tool through which we directly demonstrate the efficacy as well as the benefits of the products and sustainbable techniques used in the face of the crop problem in question. These are the areas examined in the project:

Location Crop Area (ha)
Spain (Carmona, Sevilla) Olive 150
Portugal (Alandroal, Évora) Almonds 50
Italia (Pisa, Toscana) Olive 50
